<span style="color: #222222;">President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday gave his assent to the Constitution (One Hundred Twenty-third Amendment) Bill, 2018 giving constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Bill was passed by the Parliament in this monsoon session which concluded on Friday.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The act will give the commission full powers to safeguard the rights and interests of the Other Backward Classes(OBCs).&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Now the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) will have power on par with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The NCBC, a statutory body created in 1993, was given limited powers – only to recommend to the government inclusion or exclusion of a community in the central list of OBCs.&nbsp;</span><br />
