President gives assent for SC inquiry against Prasar Bharati CEO B.S. Lalli for financial mismanagement

The President has given her assent for a Supreme Court inquiry into charges of financial mismanagement against Prasar Bharti CEO B S Lalli. Official sources said, President Pratibha Patil's assent came on a reference made by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as required under the Prasar Bharti Act. The 1971 batch IAS officer of UP cadre,Lalli assumed the CEO's office in December 2006.The BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu has said that action should have been initiated against Prasar Bharati CEO B.S. Lali much earlier. He said that if Lali has committed mistakes he should go.Trinamool Congress leader Dinesh Trivedi said this is a great opportunity for cleaning up the system.Mohan Singh of the Samajwadi Party welcomed the President's assent against Prasar Bharati CEO, and said that Lalli was acting in a dictatorial manner. He said there has been a lot of unrest among the employees.
