President gives approval to the 'Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill'

President Pranab Mukherjee has given approval to the 'Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill'. The bill was passed by Haryana Vidhan Sabha in March this year with voice vote in May. Both the INLD and Congress parties had also supported the Bill.<br/><br/>The Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act imposes complete ban on cow slaughter and sale of beef and beef products in Haryana and also ensure a rigorous imprisonment and penalty for violators.<br/><br/>Now, the cow slaughter in Haryana will invite rigorous imprisonment ranging from three to 10 years and a fine of up to 1 lakh rupees. The Act also bans cow trafficking so any person who wants to export cows will have to seek permission for the same. If any person who attempts to export cows for slaughter would be imprisoned for three to seven years and fine between 30,000 rupees and 70,000 rupees would be imposed on him.<br/><br/>Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar disclosed this while interacting with media-persons on the sidelines of 'Vishwakarma Jayanti Samaroh' organised at Meham town near Rohtak Thursday. He said that Haryana Cow Protection Act has come into force Thursrday as President Pranab Mukherjee has approved the Bill. <br/><br/>Chief Minister said that Haryana have enacted nation's stringent law against cow slaughter and it will ensure protection and upkeep of the cattle, which has great reverence in the country since ages. He said that the people of Mewat have assured him that no cow slaughter would take place in their area.
