President Pranab Mukherjee today flagged off a march at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as symbol of commitment to Swachh Bharat Mission. <br/><br/>Addressing the gathering, Mr Mukherjee said that synchronizing the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with Mahatma Gandhi's birthday is most appropriate as he had always emphasized on adoption of cleanliness in the daily lives. <br/><br/>The President said, Gandhiji saying that Cleanliness is next to Godliness and stressed on the importance of a disease free and clean body. <br/><br/>He mentioned that Rashtrapati Bhavan was recognized for cleanliness under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan last year. He said, it is important to maintain the high levels of cleanliness and sanitation. <br/><br/>The President urged all present to make their individual contribution toward cleanliness and the Swachh Bharat mission.<br/><br/>Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu flagged off Swachhta Rally today from India Gate in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The rally was organised to spread awareness on cleanliness. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu said, Swachh Bharat Mission should become a public movement to achieve the aim of clean India. <br/><br/>Member of Parliament Meenakshi Lekhi and Olympic medalist Wrestler Sushil Kumar were present at the ceremony. <br/><br/>People from all walks of life participated in the rally. <br/><br/>In the national capital, Union Health Minister J P Nadda participated in a cleaning campaign at Safdarjung hospital and administered pledge to keep India clean. <br/><br/>Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi participated in a cleaning campaign at Nizamuddin Dargah.
