President Droupadi Murmu says, women have played an important role in shaping values and ethics in Indian society

President Droupadi Murmu has stressed women's participation in the country's social and economic reformation. She was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of National Convention on Women as Foundation of value-based society at Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram today.<br />'' <br />'' President Murmu appreciated the organisation for establishing India's spirituality globally. She said whenever women got equal opportunities, they exceeded men in most cases.<br />'' <br />'' Talking about women's role in social reforms, the President said that even Mahatma Gandhi was inspired by his wife Kasturba Gandhi to take non-violence as the highest virtue. She mentioned the names of a few women entrepreneurs who have made a special contribution to the country's economic reform.<br />'' <br />''Launching the national awareness programme Empowering the Family, the President said a mother is the first guru of a family. She said, mothers' teachings can bring moral and ethical values to children, and she should teach them to prioritise humanitarian causes. The President expressed concerns over atrocities caused by humans on nature and said that if humans do not stop, nature will retaliate with the same force.
