The President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today said the country will never forget the contribution of freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh.

Participating in a function organized by Veer Kunwar Singh Foundation on the occasion of 155th Vijayotsav, Ms Patil lauded Veer Kunwar Singh, one of the leaders of the Indian rebellion of 1857.

She said the younger generation will be inspired by his sacrifice. Our correspondent reports, during country's first war of Independence, Mr Singh actively led a select band of armed soldiers against the troops.
