President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the loss of lives due to forest fires in Uttarakhand. In his message to the Governor of the state, the President said he is sad and distressed to know about the massive fires which have affected large areas of the state, causing loss of lives and air pollution as well as damage to environment.<br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee extended sympathies to those whose lives have been affected. He expressed confidence that government and people will deal with the challenge with speed and determination. He also applauded the efforts of the state government and all rescue personnel and called upon the state government to provide every assistance possible.
