President calls for constant revision of pharmacy education

<br/>President today called for a constant revision of the pharmacy education in the country to meet the future challenges. Speaking at the National Seminar on Recent Trends in Pharmacy Education and Practice in New Delhi, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil said, in the times of globalisation, international standards must be maintained in curriculum and research culture should be developed. She also stressed on the need for constant interaction among the pharmacy institutions, education institutes and heathcare practitioners.<br/><br/>Mrs. Patil said that India has a lot to offer the world in terms of alternative medicine and highlighted the need to tap its potential and propagate its efficacy. She said that Indian companies are amongst the the world leaders in production of generic medicines. Citing impressive growth trends in the pharmaceutical sector, she said that it is poised to grow at an annual rate of 19 percent.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Health and Family Affairs Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Indian pharma sector has witnessed a phenomenal growth in the recent years and is considered worldwide as the source of good quality, low cost generic drugs. He also announced that the Health Ministry will reward 12 crore Rupees to the contractor who builds the recently announced 6 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in the country before the announced deadline.<br/><br/> <br/>
