The highest peacetime military decoration award – the Ashok Chakra – was given to Havaldar Hangpan Dada posthumously for his selfless service to the nation. The award was received by his wife Chasen Lowang Dada. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the three service chiefs paid tributes to soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate by laying wreaths.
