President arrives in Amritsar

President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has called an awareness to end the crime of female foeticide and dowry system. Speaking at a function of Nanhi Chhan-A Little Shadow at Amritsar on Wednesday she said it will be dangerous, if the number of women declines in the society. She said that it is high time to mentally prepare our mothers, daughters and sisters to firmly say no to female feticide and social evil of dowry, as due to the burden birth of daughters are not welcomed by parents. Punjab Chief Minster Prakash Singh Badal said said that the success of Nanhi Chhan campaign was evident from the fact that the sex ratio in 2001 census was 796 female against 1000 male which had now marginally improved by 841.
