President Pranab Mukherjee has given clearance to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill to carve out the new state of Telangana. Highly placed sources said the bill is expected to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

AIR correspondent reports that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill was approved by the cabinet on Friday at a special cabinet meeting.

The cabinet had turned down the demand for making Hyderabad as an union territory. The bill provides for creation of Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad as joint capital for the new state as well as residuary Andhra Pradesh for a maximum period of 10 years.
