President accepts resignations of seven ministers ahead of tomorrow’s Cabinet reshuffle

The President Mr Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignations of seven ministers ahead of tommorow's Cabinet reshuffle.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, Social Justice Minister Mukul Wasnik, Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Mahadev Singh Khandela, Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha Sangma, Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs Vincent Pala are among those who have resigned.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said, the President has accepted the resignations of the ministers on the advice of Prime Minister.

The President's spokesperson Venu Rajamony said, the reshuffle will take place at 11:30 AM on Sunday.

AIR correspondent reports that the reshuffle is expected to see the induction of several new faces in the Council of Ministers.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi held consultations yesterday giving final touches to the exercise.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, who sent his resignation to Prime Minister yesterday, said he has stepped down to pave the way for inclusion of youngsters in the Council of Ministers.
Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni said, she will be able to devote more time for party work.
