The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has signed notification on resignation of Calcutta High Court Judge, Justice Soumitra Sen.

The spokesperson of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Archana Dutta told AIRcorrespondent that Mrs. Pratibhadevi Singh Patil put her signature on the notification issued by Ministry of Law and Justice last eveing.

Hand written resignation letter of Justice Sen was handed over to the President's Secretariat on Saturday by his advocate.

Impeachment motion against Justice Somitra Sen is scheduled to be taken up by the Lok Sabha on Monday.

However, according to sources, in view of the acceptance of the resiganation Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar is likely to consult political parties before any decision on impeachment process in the House is taken up.
