President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh Governor V. Shanmuganathan. <br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee has given the additional charge of Meghalaya to Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Arunachal Pradesh to Nagaland Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya. <br/><br/>V. Shanmuganathan had submitted his resignation to the President last evening following allegations of sexual harassment. <br/><br/>Earlier, nearly 100 Raj Bhavan staff had petitioned the President, the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister seeking their intervention to remove the Governor and restore the dignity of the Meghalaya Raj Bhavan.
