<span style="color: #222222;">The government today said at present 5,625 freedom fighters are receiving monthly Samman pension under the Swatantrata Samman Sainik Yojana (SSSY). In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra said, the monthly Samman pension and other facilities are provided to the eligible dependents of late freedom fighter pensioners under SSSY.<br />''<br />''He said, the government is taking steps to preserve the memories of freedom fighters include conservation of plan of cellular jail, raising of martyr's column. Besides setting up of galleries displaying the photographs and write-ups supported with archival documents and erecting of eternal flames called Swantantrya Jyot in memory of the sacrifices of heroes of the freedom struggle.</span>
