Preparatory meeting of all-party delegation scheduled to visit J & K held in New Delhi today

A preparatory meeting of all-party delegation scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow was held in New Delhi today. The delegation was made aware of the prevailing situation in the state and contours of the tour during which they will hold talks with a cross-section of people. Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh and top officials were present in the meeting. The prevailing ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir, views of different stake holders, individuals and groups were conveyed to the parliamentarians during the meeting.<br/><br/>Later, talking to media, the Home Minister said every one gave their suggestions during the meeting. He informed that the delegation will meet again after returning from Kashmir.<br/>Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said channels of dialogue should always be open, and government needs to decide who the stakeholders are. He said pellet guns should be replaced with less lethal options.<br/><br/>CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said they suggested that there should be confidence building measures, and pellet guns should be banned. Mr Yechury said mere phrase mongering will not do and a tangible action should be taken for a tangible outcome.<br/><br/>The delegation will interact with individuals and groups aiming to bring peace in the Valley, which has been facing unrest following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani on 8th of July.
