In view of possibility of snowfall in various areas of Uttarakhand during the time of voting on 30th January, Election Commission of India has made a contingency plan for polling in the snowbound areas of the state, which is being put into place. This was apprised by Chief Election Commissioner Dr. SY Qureishi during his interaction with the media today in Dehradun. He also apprised that the remote polling booths of the state would be monitored through Webcast, a technique which has already been used during polls in Arunachal Pradesh.Replying to a question related to the setting up of stalls near the polling centres by the political parties, he said that the Election Commission had started handing out voter slips to the people and as such there was no need for setting up the stalls. Meanwhile Chief Election Commissioner reviewed the preparations of election with the Senior Police and Administrative officers and District Election Officers.
