Pre-mature to comment on advancing assembly polls in West Bengal: CEC

The Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Qureshi has categorically said that it is pre-mature to comment on advancing the assembly polls in West Bengal. Addressing the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata on Friday morning, Mr.Qureshi said that the assembly poll in the state is due by 11th June of next year and the Election Commission can intervene in the matter only before six months of it. The Chief Election Commissioner will review the ongoing electoral roll revision at a high level meeting in Kolkata Friday afternoon. Mr.Qureshi said that a perfect electoral roll will be published before the assembly poll in the state to ensure free and fair polling.
