He said officials who played a key role during the time were promoted by the successive Congress governments.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Taking part in a discussion on Emergency-the darkest period of Indian democracy held by Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi this evening, the Chairman said, the people responsible for wrecking the Constitution and performing cruelty on people should be punished.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said the country became an unsafe place for men due to measures like sterilization adopted at the time. Comparing emergency era to dictatorship, Mr Surya Prakash said, the media was under an attack.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said the 42nd amendment introduced during the emergency is an example of how the Constitution was misused during that period.&nbsp;</span><br />'' &nbsp;<br />
