Prasar Bharati CEO emphasises need for inculcating social values through media

Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer Jawhar Sircar has emphasised the need for inculcating social values through media among people for building the nation into a major power in the world. Speaking at a programme held as part of the Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations at Ramakrishna Math in Hyderabad this morning, he said Prasar Bharti will strive through programmes which promote social values to realise the dreams of Swami Vivekananda to make India a major Power. Stating that All India Radio and Doordarshan have 40 percent population as assured audience and listeners across the country, the CEO said the public broadcasters will carry forward the teachings of Swmai Vivekananda to inculcate values especially among youth.

Earlier, he released books on Swami Vivekananda Life and Teachings in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
The CEO also visited the Hyderabad Kendra of All India Radio and reviewed the functioning of AIR and Doordarshan with heads of regional Kendras and senior officials.
