Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to visit Bangladesh in the first week of May for the special programme being organized to mark the conclusion of the joint celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.

India and Bangladesh had decided to jointly celebrate the 150th Birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate Poet during the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India in January 2010. Vice President Hamid Ansari had jointly inaugurated the celebrations in Dhaka along with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in May last year.

Following this several programmes have been organized in over the last one year in Bangladesh by the Indian High Commission and the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Dhaka in association with the Bangladesh government while similar programmes have also been organized in India.
