The Finance Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee today expressed hope that the country will achieve double digit growth in the near future as the economy is turning around. Addressing the 82nd Annual General meeting of FICCI in New Delhi, he said he has taken a number of measures in the budget to accelerate growth. For this, Mr Mukherjee said he has attempted to reduce the fiscal deficit and ensure development of agriculture sector by large allocations with a focus on food processing and irrigation. Finance minister expressed hope with good kharif crop the inflationary pressure on the food economy will come down. He said faster industrial growth will ensure more employment which will result reduction of poverty in the country. Our correspondent reports Mr Pranab Mukherjee who presented the budget for the next fiscal in Parliament yesterday has focussed on agriculture, services, infrastructure to generate higher growth.
