The Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will hold a pre-budget meeting with the state Finance Ministers in New Delhi today. He will deliberate on issues that will have a bearing on the budget for the year 2011-12. Price rise, goods and service tax are some of the issues likely to come up for discussions in the meeting. The meeting is also expected to review the impact of fiscal and monetary measures to revive the economy and identify the role of states in ensuring to bridge the gap between the demand and supply. The measures to tackle the high rate of inflation are also expected to be at the centre of the discussions with Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council revising the inflation rate to be around 7 per cent.
