The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is in Washington to participate in the Annual Fund Bank Meet. The three day conclave which begins tomorrow will focus on discussing ways and means to give greater say to emerging economies including India in managing the international financial institutions. The meeting assumes significance for developing countries as the World Bank had earlier this weekagreed to increase the voting rights of these countries.Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is accompanied by the Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla and the Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu. Mr. Mukherjee is also expected to attend the meeting of Commonwealth Finance Ministers on the sidelines of the Bank Meet. The meeting will discuss the potential relationship between this group and the G-20.Meanwhile the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised India's projected growth of India to 9.7 percent in 2010 and 8.4 percent in 2011, led increasingly by domestic demand.
