Pranab Mukherjee meets Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today met Saudi King Abdullah in Riyadh on the sidelines of Indo-Saudi Joint Commission meeting. Diplomatic sources in Riyadh told AIR Dubai correspondent that bilateral, regional and international and multilateral issues including G-20 and climate change figured during the discussions. Mukherjee also met Saudi foreign minister, finance minister and co chairman of the joint commission and Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry.<br/><br/>During the eighth meeting of the Indo-Saudi Joint Commission which is underway in Riyadh, both sides took the JCM to a higher level and discussed the cooperation in the areas of Education, Agriculture and frontier areas of science and technology. Both sides also agreed upon the review and monitoring mechanism to which both sides can review the progress after every six month.<br/><br/>A number of meaningful business activities were arranged on the sidelines of the joint commission meeting. These include Textile Exhibition and Buyer-Seller-Meet by the Synthetic Rayon and Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) at Riyadh Palace, Exhibition of Indian business catalogs India Catex 2009, and meetings between Indian businessmen and their Saudi counterparts.
