Pranab in B'desh with $1bn line of credit agreement

India is to give a $ 1bn to Bangladesh, highest financial assistance provided to any country by India. The credit agreement was signed between the Exim Bank of India and the Economic Relation’s division of Bangladesh in Dhaka this evening. The fund will be used by Bangladesh for development projects of railways, bus transport, dredging and building of infrastructure.Speaking after the signing of the Agreement the Finance Minister Pranab Mukhrjee said that it reflects India's committment to assist Bangladesh in its development. India will also allow export of two lakh tonnes of wheat and three lakh tonnes of rice to Bangladesh. Pranab Mukherjee, who met the Finance Minister A M A Muhith and Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, is also meeting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
