Government is taking steps to reduce food inflation. Talking to Newspersons in Kolkata on the sidelines of a review meeting with revenue officials Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said rise in food inflation to double digit is a matter of great concern. He said to remove supply constraints some measures had been taken and from the demand side by adjusting crucial rates Reserve Bank of India had taken appropriate step.Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee also said he would discuss with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh the plea by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for a financial package to bail West Bengal out of its economic woes, but "would not commit" anything right now.
