Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today assured financial support for building an astro-turf field for developing hockey in West Bengal. Paying tributes to hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand on his 105th birth anniversary, Mukherjee said efforts should be made from all corners of the country for retrieving past glory of Indian hockey. He said the Union government would not hesitate to provide fund for the return of glorious years of hockey. Union Sports Minister M. S. Gill also lauded the contribution of legendary player Major Dhyan Chand in Indian hockey, describing him as the biggest sports icon of the country.
