Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today participated in a 5-kilometre cycle ride- cyclothon to promote fuel conservation. Around five thousand people, including actor Farhan Akhtar and sports personalities, participated in the cycle ride. The event was held to create awareness about the promotion of green rides' through cycles, which was flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national capital.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pradhan said that benefits of cycling are not only limited to protect environment or fuel conservation but it also carries huge health and fitness dividends. He said, fuel conservation is a collective responsibility of all the citizens and appealed them to join in the movement for conserving the petroleum resources. <br/><br/>He also said it will help to save money and mitigate the adverse social, economic and environmental impacts associated with oil production and consumption which include air pollution, global warming, water pollution, dependence on import.
