Pradhan hints withdrawal of subsidised cooking LPG to consumers of certain income level<br/>

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has hinted withdrawal of subsidised cooking LPG to consumers of certain income level. Speaking at Delhi Economics Conclave, Mr Pradhan said it is time to decide whether persons beyond a certain income level should be allowed subsidy. He said, subsidies should be targeted do those who need it.The Minister said, so far more than 42.5 lakh domestic LPG consumers have volunteered to give up their LPG subsidy out of nearly 15 crore consumers. The subsidy surrendered is used to connect poor households with LPG connections and relieve them from cooking with firewood or biomass, which adversely impacts on their health.
