Social activist Shayara Bano has said that the practice of triple talaq must be rooted out from our country as like many Islamic countries in the world. She was speaking in the second session on 'Triple talaq: Drama or unrest' in the 8th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad organized by MIT School of Government and MIT World Peace University in Pune today. She expected that the bill regarding talaq should be passed in the Rajya Sabha too. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of All India Imam Organization Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi said it must be admitted that the practice of triple talaq has been misused. A provision needs to be made for presence of a witness, advocate and mediator with the consent of the bride at the time of nikah, he said. BJP MLA from Mumbai Ashish Shelar and Congress MLA from West Bengal Sabina Yasmin were felicitated with 'Adarsha Yuva Vidhayak Puraskar' on the occasion.
