Central transmission utility PowerGrid Corp today said that the company is planning to invest 2,034.81 crore rupees on expansion over the next three years. The board of PowerGrid Corp, which met on July 2, 2010, gave investment approval of over 1,272 crore rupees for strengthening of transmission networks in the Eastern region.The board also gave its nod to an investment of over 752 crore rupees for the northern region transmission system, with a commissioning schedule of 36 months from the date of approval. PowerGrid plans to invest 55,000 core rupees for adding 37,000 MW of inter-regional electricity transmission capacity in the country during the 11th Five-Year Plan .
