A powerful Typhoon pounded the northern Philippines on Saturday with heavy rains and high winds, prompting concerns of flooding and landslides. Officials said Typhoon Nanmadol, with wind gusts reaching 230 kilometers per hour, was moving slowly over the northern province of Cagayan, slowed by a high-pressure area over Taiwan. According to local officials, two children were killed in a landslide north of the capital, Manila, and two fishermen are missing. Taiwan's weather bureau said the storm may not make landfall, but warned that it is expected to move north along Taiwan's eastern coast on Monday and Tuesday, on its way to Japan's southern Okinawa island.
