Powerful earthquake in Indonesia kills 200 people

Officials in Indonesia say, the number of people killed on Wednesday’s powerful earthquake in the island of Sumatra could exceed a thousand. <br/><br/> One of the areas hardest hit was Padang, the capital of Western Sumatra. Rescue teams are busy helping the victims.<br/> <br/> A disaster relief official said, so far two hundred bodies have been pulled from rubble, but the Indonesian authorities expect the number of bodies to rise sharply. Hundreds of buildings including hospitals, shops and hotels have collapsed, burying large number of people.<br/><br/>The earthquake also triggered landslides that cut off roads and power and telephone lines.<br/>
