Power supply restored in Northern India after hrs of outage

The Electricity supply in the Northern parts of the country , was completely restored this evening. North India today suffered a power failure due to the grid disturbance paralysing normal life in eight states, including the national capital, for over 15 hours. The northern transmission grid collapsed at around 2.30 AM, plunging Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chandigarh into darkness.

Railways and Delhi Metro came to halt for a few hours in the morning, as power supply to them was disrupted. Meanwhile, Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf today said that power supply in the national capital has been restored. He said that all emergency services like Airport, Delhi Metro and NDMC areas were restored.

Earlier talking to reporters in New Delhi, the Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that a three-member committee has been formed to inquire into grid failure. He said that the panel will submit its report in the next 15 days.
