Power ministry has decided to set up district level committees for oversight on all power related schemes. The committees will also look at the impact on the provision of power services to the people. This is being done in order to ensure the involvement and oversight of the people in the process of power sector reforms and their implementation across the country. The most senior Member of Parliament in the district will be the Chairperson of the committee. Other MPs in the district will be Co-chairpersons. District collector will be the Member Secretary and MLAs will be members.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">The district committee will meet at least once in three months to review and coordinate overall development of power supply infrastructure in the district. The Centre has been providing funds under different schemes for strengthening the systems in the country. In the past five years, almost two lakh crore rupees were provided under Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Integrated Power Development Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana to ensure universal access by electrifying every village, every hamlet and every household.</span><br />
