Power Minister Piyush Goyal today stressed on the need for transparency and accountability of discoms. He said this while inaugurating the induction programme of Urban Vidyut Abhiyantas to be placed in state power distribution companies. The Power Ministry has taken up the experiment of placement of young professionals called Urban Vidyut Abhiyantas to assist the discoms in effective monitoring of Integrated Power Development Scheme. <br/><br/>The Minister urged everyone to monthly monitor the position of different discoms on parameters like duration and frequency of power cuts, consumer complaints redressal and release of new connections on URJA mobile app. He interacted with the Urban Vidyut Abhiyantas and motivated them to work with full commitment in their discoms and be a part of nation building.
