In Tamil Nadu, the power generation in the first unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will begin again next week according to its site director R S Sundar. Talking to AIR today he said that power generation which was stopped for maintenance is now going to start after six months.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the power generation in the first unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is going to start again. The power generation was stopped last year on June 24 for maintenance purpose for two months. Then the regeneration of power got inordinately delayed. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging revival of power generation in the nuclear unit. Site Director R S Sundar told AIR said that at present testing of valves is being done and tomorrow hydro test of the device will be conducted. <br/><br/>Atomic energy regulatory Board officials stationed at Kudankulam nuclear power plant will give the go ahead for power generation once the parameters are complete. He said that till now 687.5 million units of electricity has been generated with a revenue of Rs 1565 crore revenue. The first unit of Kudankulam nuclear power plant achieved criticality in July 2014 .
