Poverty eradication, Equality is top priority for government: Venkaiah Naidu

Union Minister for information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu has said that eradication of poverty and bringing about equality among all sections of people in the country is the top priority for the government. Addressing a gathering after inauguration of Skill Development Centre at Swarna Bharat Trust at Shamshabad near Hyderabad today, he said as part of Digital India – a DigiGaon initiative will be launched soon to provide tele-medicine, education and skills through digital technology. He said that the budget also focused on promotion of skill development and livelihood opportunities for people in rural areas with an increase in the allocations. <br/><br/>In order to boost creation of new jobs in the formal sector, he said government will pay the Employee Pension Scheme contribution of 8.33 per cent to all new employees enrolling in EPFO for the first three years of their employment. He said that recently an amendment was made to Payment of wages Act that ensures payment through cheques or to the bank accounts and also to ensure full payment of promised wages to the workers. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the well being should follow the principle of give back to the society and it is the need of the hour. He emphasised on promotion of skills in rural areas to provide more employment opportunities to the youth.
