Postal Dept launches mail tracking facility on World Postal Day today

Today, on the occasion of World Postal Day, there is good news for postal customers. To deal with issues such as delay in delivery of mail and loss in transit, the Department of Posts has decided to a provide a mail tracking facility for all types of postal communication. Speaking to AIR, Shashikumar Sharma, senior superintendent of post offices, Nasik Division said that the Mail Network optimization project used to track postal communications will be implemented in a phased manner to track all kinds of postal communication.
It has been proposed to implement the project to track parcel, registered posts and VP articles by the end of this year. The facility will also be extended to ordinary mail in the near future. Presently the mail tracking system is available only for registered posts, speed posts and bulk senders through ordinary post. After implementation of the project, every letter / mail will be affixed with a bar code to enable it to be tracked during the postal transit. Postal , customers will also be given a receipt for every mail transaction.
