Post poll activity gears up in Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland; New Govt to be in position in Meghalaya on Tuesday, Tripura on Wednesday

The newly elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Meghalaya Dr. Mukul Sangma has staked the claim to form the new Government in the State. He met Governor R.S. Mooshahary yesterday after a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party in Shillong. He said, the new Government will be formed on Tuesday.

The Congress has won 29 seats in the 60-member Assembly in the just concluded Assembly polls.

In Nagaland, the Naga Peoples Front has been re-elected Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as leader of the new Legislature Party of the Front. The NPF and its alliance partners BJP and the JDU also had a separate meeting yesterday. This will be the third term for the NPF-led Government in the State, after winning 38 seats in the 60-member Assembly.

In Tripura, the newly elected Legislators of the Left Front will meet on Monday in Agartala to elect their leader. The new Government will take the oath of office on Wednesday. It is expected that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is likely to be re-elected to head the 5th Left Front Government in the State.
