Nearly three thousand crore rupees have been utilized by the states and union territories under the Poshan Abhiyan programme. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Women and Child Development minister Smriti Irani have said that the center has released funds of over five thousand 312 crore rupees till the end of March this year. She said, The program aims to reduce malnutrition in the country in a phased manner by adopting a synergized and result-oriented approach. Mrs. Irani said, the programme strives to bring about behavioral change through people's participation in Jan Angolans.<br />'' <br />'' She said, the estimates of stunting among children below 5 years are provided in the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She said, as per NFHS 4 prevalence of stunting children up to 5 years was 38.4% which has reduced to 35.5% in NFHS 5.<br />''
