Portfolio problem in new AP Government resolved

In Andhra Pradesh, the portfolios problem in the new Government was resolved for time being after the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening. With Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly seeking time to redress the grievances of a section of ministers on the portfolios issue, the resentment was contained. A section of the Ministers who were unhappy apparently for not giving due importance to seniors in the allocation of portfolios were almost on the verge of showdown with the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday. Vatti Vasanth Kumar, who was given Tourism, even quite minister post while other Ministers expressed their resentment over not being given important berths. After holding day long negotiations with envoys, the unhappy ministers had separate meetings with Chief Minister on Thursday evening and presented a statistical report strengthening their allegations on regional and community imbalances in the Cabinet. However, the Chief Minister has reportedly sought some time to redress the grievances. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to convince Vasanth Kumar to withdraw his resignation.
