In Uttarakhand, portals of the famous shrine of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Garhwal Himalayas would be closed for winters in the first week of next month. According to chairman of Sri Gangotri Temple Committee Sanjiv Semwal, portals of the Gangotri shrine would be closed for pilgrims on sixth November. Whereas the portals of Yamunotri shrine would be closed on the auspicious occasion of Yamdveetiya on seventh of the coming month.
