The portals of Badrinath shrine were reopened for the devotees today. The ceremony started this morning amid chanting of Vaidic hymns and elaborate rituals. The occasion was marked by the presence of thousands of pilgrims. The portals of Badrinath shrine were closed during winters when the area remains snowbound. <br/><br/>The doors of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath shrines were already opened for pilgrims on Monday on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The famous Chaar-Dhaam Yatra remains suspended during winters owing to heavy snowfall.
