The Pope has called for speeding up of the resettlement of Tamils in the war torn Sri Lanka. The Vatican Information News said the Pope Benedict XVI has appealed to the international community to strive to meet the humanitarian and economic needs of Sri Lanka to help the return home of people displaced by the war. He was a meeting a delegation from Sri Lanka.
