Congress has dissolved its all 14 district committees and 140 block committees in Delhi with immediate effect in the wake of the party's poor performance in Lok Sabha polls. Delhi Congress Spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said that the decision was taken on the direction of the AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Delhi Affairs Shakeel Ahmed. In a statement, Mukesh Sharma said, the appointment of all the district and block presidents and their office- bearers have also been dissolved from their posts. He said, the step will help strengthen and revitalize the party in the state.
The Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has dissolved all 15 state working committees of the party. Mr Yadav yesterday also dissolved the Uttar Pradesh state working committees of the party barring the state president Akhilesh Yadav, who will continue to function as the party state president. Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said in Lucknow that all the related committees and sub-committees have also been dissolved along with their presidents and all the functionaries.
Our Lucknow correspondent reports that a few days ago, the ruling party had sacked thirty six minister level functionaries in the backdrop of poor performance of the party in recent Lok Sabha elections. The ruling party could win only five seats out of seventy eight where it fielded its candidates.
