A BBC investigation has found that hundreds of millions of dollars pledged by rich countries to help developing nations cope with climate change cannot be accounted for. <br/> <br/>In 2001, 20 industrialised countries including the European Union, promised more than 400 million dollars a year. However, the BBC discovered that in total, only 260 million dollars have been paid into two designated UN funds. <br/> <br/>The United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has admitted this has led to mistrust between the rich and poor countries on the issue of climate change money. <br/>
