In Tamilnadu, pongal is one of the most popular festivals which signals the end of winter and the onset of spring. The festival which begins on the first day of the month of Thai lasts for three more days.Sunday’s celebration is called Surya Pongal in which all that is prepared is dedicated to the Sun.
