The Budget Session of Parliament has been rescheduled in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in five states. The Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha approved the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, which met in New Delhi on Friday.According to the revised schedule, the Session will conclude its financial business by 25th of this month. The first part of the Session will come to an end then and the second part of the Session will be convened later.Sources in the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry said that the date for the second part of the Session have not been yet finalised. As per the original schedule, the first phase of the Budget Session was to end on March 16th. The second phase was planned to be held between April four and April 21st.The Election Commission announced polls in five states — Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala — from April four to May 10th. The counting of votes will be held on May 13.Sources said there was a proposal to hold a special session of Parliament beginning late May.
